We are packing our bags and heading to the Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon in Washington, DC. The race takes place March 11th, a Saturday, so most of the group plans on flying out the Thursday or Friday before. After the race, we’ll spend the rest of our long weekend taking in the sites and sounds of our Nation’s Capital before flying home on Monday. Stay tuned for more information on flights, hotels, and weekend information. You may go ahead and register for the race here. The current registration price for the marathon is just $85, and the half marathon is $75.
You may be eligible for FREE registration if you decide to participate with us in fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. We are teaming up with some friends to fundraise as a team. If you are interested in participating in our fundraising efforts, please send a message to Kathy at email@example.com, and we’ll make sure you stay in the loop.
Finally, the race is several months away, so you have plenty of time to train for either the half or full marathon. We will be organizing a novice and intermediate training program for the 20 weeks prior to race day. These groups will meet in the mornings 3-4 times a week to hit the trail at Lady Bird Lake near Austin High. If you’re unable to participate in one of these training groups, we strongly urge that you figure out a training plan that works for you. We recommend Hal Higdon’s Training Programs. It is imperative that you properly train for a long distance run to prevent injury.
