| Good Day at Holmdel!!! (october 29) | ||||||||||||||
| With the
opportunities to race on the famed Holmdel XC course far and few between
after high school graduation, several of the Runner's High athletes took
advantage of the USATF NJ 5K XC champs on Sunday to see how they measured
up.
On the men's side of things, Jeffrey Peterson took
charge from the opening gun on his way to a solid 16:15 victory--just
off his all time pr on the course despite the angry winds which rolled
in after the weekend's storm. Michael Loenser, the newest addition to the Runner's High family, had a fine debut finishing up in 4th overall and knocking a full minute off his former HS pr in 16:50. With the ladies, Megan O'Toole represented well with her 2nd place overall showing in a time of 20:16. Megan showed great patience early on and made a big move out of the bowl to close well and distance herself from 3rd place. Also, on a side note, a great friend to the High team and wife of Jeffrey, Clara Peterson finished 8th overall running in the men's race in what is the fastest time ever run by a female on the Holmdel Park course in 17:04!!!!!!!! |

| Mizuno Runner's High All over this Weekend! (April 29, 30) | ||||||||||||||
| From the
Penn Relays to Nashville, Tennessee and the USATF NJ women's 5k Championships,
the Mizuno Runner's High team was well represented this past weekend.
At Thursday's Penn Relay distance night, Scott DeFilippis made his return from injury and turned in a solid 30:41 performance for 10000 meters proving he is on his way back for a nice spring/summer campaign. Late Saturday afternoon, Sascha Scott opened up her outdoor Mile campaign with a very solid 4:45.6 at the Pernn Relays Olympic development women's Mile. Saturday morning was Christy DeFilippis' turn at the Country Music Marathon in Nashville. Despite the heat and tougher than expected course, Christy finished 10th overall in a lifetime best 3:11.05. Sunday morning, the women were out to defend their USATFNJ 5k Road title and did so in resounding fashion turning back the Brooks sponsored Running Company team by nearly 3 minutes. KC Meehan took overall honors in 17:59 with Megan Phillips in 3rd at 18:20 and Tara Sarnacki right behind in a new lifetime best of 18:32 for 5th place. Newcomer Meghan O'Toole, formerly of Rutger's University, provided some insurance with her solid 8th place showing. Meanwhile, a little earlier Sunday morning and a bit furthur south from the women, Dickson Mercer in his 2nd marathon took 2nd overall at the Frederick, Maryland marathon. Dickson continued to show his future as marathon man here. |
